50 n.o.

While I’m sure I’ll never experience the nervous nineties, the fretful forties have involved a few awkward deliveries (Am: “curved balls“).
“Where has the time gone?” I used to hear my father say, wondering why he fussed.
Am I half empty, or half full? I have no idea.
The only thing I know is that I wake up each morning thinking of my loved ones.

This Must Be The Place (Excerpt)

Home is where I want to be
But I guess I’m already there
I come home. She lifted up her wings
I guess that this must be the place

I can’t tell one from another –
Did I find you or you find me?
There was a time
Before we were born
If someone asks
This is where I’ll be

We drift in and out
Sing into my mouth
Out of all those kinds of people
You’ve got a face with a view
I’m just an animal
Looking for a home
And share the same space
For a minute or two

And you love me till my heart stops
Love me till I’m dead
Eyes that light up
Eyes look through you
Cover up the blank spots
Hit me on the head
And I got you…

The Eternal

Procession moves on, the shouting is over
Praise to the glory of loved ones now gone
Talking aloud as they sit round their tables
Scattering flowers washed down by the rain
Stood by the gate at the foot of the garden
Watching them pass like clouds in the sky
Try to cry out in the heat of the moment
Possessed by a fury that burns from inside

Cry like a child, though these years make me older
With children my time is so wastefully spent
A burden to keep, though they’re in a communion
Accept like a curse, an unlucky deal
Played by the gate at the foot of the garden
My view stretches out from the fence to the wall
No words could explain, no actions determine
Just watching the trees and the leaves as they fall
