The Fall
Every child has the right to be shielded
From the evil that lurks within men
But for some there is no such protection–
They’re the victims again and again
As a boy, I’d look up to my father
For example, for guidance and strength
For the innocent children of Gaza
It is terror that’s etched there instead
While the world’s toothless envoys assemble
And the greatest of powers abstains
There are more infant souls slaughtered hourly
By an army that kills without shame
So what rational person among us
Could deceive himself that this is just?
That pursuit of defence is aggression–
That the cause justifies the bloodlust?
And what’s God doing up in His heaven
Hid away from the meek, the unblessed?
Is there meant to be some kind of lesson
For the babies with lead in their chests?
I don’t care that their forefathers skirmished–
That their fathers now settle the score
If we think of ourselves as enlightened
We must end this insufferable war
This is a tough one for me. In our normal, everyday life I would have to agree that maiming and killing children is unacceptable. But we do not live in a “normal” world. Specifically, Hamas has no compunctions in training little children to hate Jews, hate non-Muslims, and to be “child soldiers”. These acts sanctioned by certain authorities of the Muslim world are supporters of the “new idolatry”. For those who believe and quote the Bible, we find that with all the references to good and mercy, there are numerous references to punishing and destroying those who promoted the idolatry (which was just a symbol of human sacrifice and other barbarous acts:
Exodus Chapter 20 (5) You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them. For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation of those that hate me, (6) and showing mercy to thousands of those that love Me and keep My commandments.
Numbers 14 (18) The LORD is long-suffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation.
Deuteronomy Chapter 5 (9) You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them. For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, (10) and doing mercy to thousands of those who love Me and keep My commandments.
In the specific case of Gaza, had Hamas really cared about their children, they would fight the Israelis as “men” by coming out and meeting them on a battlefield away from the population centres. But these terrorists are not men but rather brutal cowards who would rather hide behind the skirts of their women and behind the “shields” of their children. It takes 2 enlightened sides to stop this war. Unfortunately, too many Gazans reject enlightenment. Please go to the following link:
